As I pointed out in an earlier post, I have mixed feelings about the price of gasoline. Add to that, that here in Eureka, we have the "honor" of being one of the highest priced locales for gasoline (not that anybody is doing well with these prices) but I wanted to post today's pricing:
Wanna take bets as to how long before we hit $5? Do you think we'll start walking then?
I've already had 2 members say they are cancelling their monthly passes because they can't afford them anymore. They won't be the last, I'm sure.
Also, I'm about ready to join a local farm's CSA, so you're right on that count!

My wife I were talking today. Were actually very fortunate because I usually ride my bike and her job is only about a 5 minute drive, so its not hitting us as hard as most people. However, I think its going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I also think it might be affecting attendance at WW meetings because people are making cuts.
The good news is its causing people to stay closer to home and make more neighborhood connections. Some companies are changing from five 8 hour days to 4 nine hour days. Local farmers are getting more business.
There will be a bright side. The question is, How long until we get there? And Can we make it?

We're only about 20 cents cheaper a gallon down here in Southern California. I've got the ability to carpool with my husband (on days I don't work a WW meeting right after my "real job" that is) so we've started carpooling 2 days a week.
I wish my city were more pedestrian friendly, because yowza my gas bill is through the roof.

Heh... I'd love to walk more, honestly. Or bike. Maybe if gas prices go up enough, other people will stop tearing through town in their freaking humvee's that I don't feel like I'm signing my own death warrant for daring to try to cross the street.
You know why I don't walk? Because crossing Greenbrier in the middle of the day is freaking suicide!
